Sid the Science Kid: The Movie {review & giveaway}

sidsciencekidmovie-300x293
We are big fans of Sid the Science Kid over here. If you haven’t heard of it, you should know that Sid is a show currently airing on PBS stations geared toward Preschoolers. This show teaches children basic scientific principles and demonstrates why things work the way they do in a fun engaging way!

Next week, the first ever Sid the Science Kid movie is being released! My family and I received an advanced copy to share our thoughts upon before it hits stores and in turn also offer a copy to one of my lucky readers! Are you excited? You should be!

In this movie, Sid and his classmate Gabriela enter a contest and win the exclusive opportunity to visit a new modern science museum before it opens to the public. There the kids meet a quirky scientist, voiced by special guest star Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), who has designed robot tour guides of the future! Then one of the robots goes haywire and the grand opening is in jeopardy! It is up to Sid and his friends to work as a team to find the rogue robot and save the day!

My daughter age 4 1/2 and my son whom is two both enjoyed this DVD quite a bit. My daughter specifically told me she loved seeing all the fun futuristic robots! She was also pressing me to let Daddy know that she and her brother wanted to visit our local science museum again soon! Her favorite exhibit that Sid and the other kids came across was the Hall of Machine Marvels! In this areas, the kids saw lots of great things that wouldn’t be possible without the use of levers, pulleys, and wheels!

This movie was really a lot of fun and there were many great lessons to be learned. There are dinosaurs, a giant hive of bees, marveling machines, and weather exhibit for kids to learn about! There’s more than just science to take to heart as well…Sid and Gabriella learned even though they didn’t know as much as the older kids, that they could still help out in a big way. The characters cleverly solve problems together by figuring out riddles, telling jokes, and working together!

    My 13 yoa son recently participated in a Science Olympiad and made a boomilever, a device built to hold a specified weight a given distance from a vertical surface. He was so proud because he received a 4th place medal. Thanks.
