March 2nd fans everywhere, my family included will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday. And in light of this celebration, I’m pleased to announce that NCircle Entertainment just released a fun new DVD based off Seuss’ work called The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!: Safari So Good. Along with the DVD they also sent along a great book to go along with called Safari, So Good!: All About African Wildlife for me to share with family as well as get the word out here on my blog!
About the DVD:
Join the Cat in the Hat on this brand-new safari adventure! Help him find the missing stripes for his hat, swing with silly monkeys and discover how footprints are made! It’s time for safari, so come and explore with the Cat and his friends on adventures galore. We will reach for the treetops and swing through the trees, When we walk like giraffes and swing like monkeys!
This DVD includes five delightful stories: Treetop Tom, Stripy Safari, King of Swing, Elephant Walk and Follow the Prints.
My children ages 4 1/2 and 2 years old, girl and boy, loved the Safari, So Good! DVD. There’s a Spanish language option and runtime is 60 minutes. I like that you can choose to play a couple of the adventures one day and save the others for later. We for the first time sat and watched the DVD from start to finish and later discussed some of the animals and the environments we saw. My 4 1/2 year old daughter had a lot to say about the elephants and my son was totally into seeing all the different animal foot prints.
I think this DVD would be great for a unit study on the Safari or just to have as something fun and educational for them to watch at tv time. The Cat in the Hat is quite the character and has always impressed and excited not just my children with every new adventure but me too! There’s great facts, fun songs, and unforgettable adventures, a total winner when it comes to education entertainment for and child!
About the Book:
Safari, So Good!: All About African Wildlife a title in the Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library, is quite an adventurous children’s book. This book and others in the Learning Library line are great for beginning readers like my daughter teach basic concepts in a entertaining and educational way. I didn’t know it before but recently learned that The Cat in the Hat Knows A lot About That TV series is based off the Random House Cat in the Hat Learning Library book series! How cool is that?
In this tale, the Cat takes Sally and Nick to Africa–where they learn how animals are either predators or prey, that elephants tend to favor one tusk over the other, how to tell the difference between a white and black rhino, that zebras sleep standing up and much, much more! The facts are very interesting and makes you want to delve deeper in knowing more about the animals! I know that after reading this book, my kids will probably be prone to check out the Safari animals closer at the Zoo during our next visit!
