DVD Review & Giveaway: The Adventures of Scooter the Penguin

Featuring lessons of acceptance, honesty, teamwork and understanding, THE ADVENTURES OF SCOOTER THE PENGUIN is a new CG animated family-friendly feature in the tradition of The Penguins of Madagascar and Ice Age. Scooter is a unique little bird from a lost colony of penguins known for their amazing speed and strength. Abandoned before he was even hatched, Scooter is taken in by a family of silver penguins who encourage his talents. Still, Scooter feels like he doesn’t belong. It is not until he learns lessons of love and self-worth that he returns to his village and saves the day.

The Adventures of Scooter the Penguin is a cute film with a wholesome story line. We’ve been gearing up watching movies and shows that shed light on the cold winter season that will be here before we know it. And what better a movie to show my kids than a Dove Approved Family Friendly film featuring a penguin and his friends on a great adventure of self discovery!

I’ll be honest that the watch ability factor with my kids didn’t take off with this film. What I mean is that my daughter nor my son has asked to see it again. I tend to favor movies a little more that my kids will want to watch more than just once. The movie itself was cute, the animation was decent, and the story line was easy to follow to get the message and point trying to be put across. Total run time is 80 minutes long.

I ultimately liked the family friendliness of the film and the fact I could show my children different animals found where penguins typically live. I feel that the story line is a good prompt for discussions about self discovery and acceptance. Overall, I’d rate this one a 3 out of 5.
