Hey Arnold!, one of the most beloved animated Nickelodeon series from the 1990s, has just arrived in stores nationwide for the first time, from Shout! Factory.
Hey Arnold! was created by Craig Bartlett and was based on his 1986 comics starring Arnold. It debuted as an animated short for the Nickelodeon film Harriet the Spy in 1996. The cartoon ran for 5 seasons resulting in 100 episodes. The show also aired on “Nick on CBS” from 2002 until 2004.
It’s life in the big city for Arnold, Grandpa, Grandma, Abner the pig and a host of other friends and neighbors: the likes of which you couldn’t find anywhere else but here, on Hey Arnold! Now you can sit back and tune in to the full Season One collection of this cult hit and see the early episodes that made football-headed boys all the rage! Favorites include Stoop Kid, Mugged, 24 Hours To Live and lots more! All 20 Original Episodes.
I was so pleased when I found out that Hey Arnold was going to be available on DVD! I remember watching this show air when was eleven years old! I have to say cartoons currently aren’t what they used to be! Hey Arnold truly is a classic with it’s sophisticated humor and moral teachings. The charters are all so unique and in most of them I can see pieces of myself.
I’ll have to admit that it’s not often you find a cartoon that adults can appreciate along with their children. My three year old didn’t get all the humor in Hey Arnold! but I know she will in due time. She rather enjoyed the show and has asked to watch the Christmas episode several times! I’m glad I was able to review this dvd collection only downside is that there’s no bonus features added to enjoy. I would have loved to see an artist/creator interview or even a behind the scenes interviews of the voice cast.
All in all a great set to own! The The four-disc DVD set has a suggested retail price of $29.93 featuring 20 fun filled episodes (460 minutes total running time). Though right now you can purchase Hey Arnold!: Season One
for 19.99 on Amazon.com.
