About Beside Still Waters: Marianna Sommer believes she knows where her life is headed. Nineteen years old and Amish, her plan is to get baptized into the church, marry Aaron Zook, and live in the only community she’s ever known.
When Marianna’s family moves from Indiana to Montana she discovers life and faith will never be the same. As she builds an easy friendship with local guy, Ben Stone, Ben not only draws her heart, he also gets her thinking about what loving God and living in community is all about.
As Marianna struggles to find “home”, she also encounters God in intimate ways. Click here to watch the book trailers. http://triciagoyer.com/contemporaryfiction.html#BesideStillWaters
I know that Amish fiction seems to be all the trend right now and it can be a little overwhelming to know which book and by what author you should pick up to read. I’m going out on a limb to say that anyone that is in love with that genre or wanting to jump right in and give it a try should definitely pick up Beside Still Waters by Tricia Goyer!
This book, though it took me awhile to finish reading due to personal issues and lack of free time is one that you easily wouldn’t want to put down. I was deeply intrigued and my attention was completely held from chapter one to the very end.
The characters were well written as well as the description of the areas in which the characters lived and traveled too. I always appreciate having a visual painted beautifully for me in words when reading books. Though I’m not Amish myself, I felt I could relate a lot to the main character Marianna. She has many hard life decisions to learn how to handle from leaving everything she grew to know community wise heading away from home, and her faith. And the title Beside Still Waters is perfect as this book really sheds the light on the fact that God’s Grace is enough for us. And what’s neat too is that this book is based on a true story.
Overall an exceptionally well written title and the ending of this story was such a cliffhanger! I’m totally looking forward to the sequel , Along Wooded Paths which is expected to be released this fall!
This book just keeps on giving as a bonus is that at the end of the book several Amish recipes were included! I plan on try out the Potato soup one for my family this week! It just doesn’t get any easier than this! I’ve been using these to hang up posters on my wall, pictures and notes on my fridge and whatever else that’s light weight and needs hanging up! These couldn’t have come at a better time because I’ve been collecting educational posters to start hanging up in my daughter’s room and in other places around the house to help with memorization of ABC’s, Numbers, States, and more!
These are perfect for our home because I have a tendency to like to arrange and re-arrange almost constantly. And honestly because I know we live in a duplex that the owners probably wouldn’t be a fan of all the tacks, nails, and putty that could possibly lift paint off the walls.
I love Scotch(R) Reusable Tabs because you do is peel, stick, and then place whatever it us you are wanting to hang in position! I haven’t had any issues other than when trying to hang up pre-rolled posters. My photo posters keep wanting to roll back up! But I haven’t had any other issues with items that are paper, not rolled, and the like. These are totally worth the money at 4.25 for 72 tabs! Scotch Reusable Tabs, 0.5 Inch squares, 72 Tabs (R103) are available at Amazon and eligible for free super saving shipping!
